Limitations and compatibility

These effects are decorative, not encryption. Readers or software may recover the original words; never use them to hide sensitive information.
Reversal preserves grapheme clusters and line order. Upside-down and square styles mainly cover basic Latin letters; unsupported characters remain unchanged. Emoji are preserved.
Dense text can be difficult for screen readers and may be clipped or rejected by an app. Keep important information in plain text. Links and mentions are protected by default.

What is an unreadable font?

Here it means a copyable text effect, not a downloadable font file. There is no single unreadable alphabet: stacking marks, changing letter shapes and reversing text make words harder to recognize in different ways.

How is unreadable text different from Zalgo?

Unreadable text is a broad visual goal. Zalgo is one technique: attaching combining marks to existing characters. This page compares it with three alternatives; the Zalgo generator gives you precise control over the marks.

Can unreadable text be converted back?

Some effects, such as reversing each line again, can restore the input. Other styles use ambiguous substitutions or combining marks that can also be real accents. Keep the original rather than assuming every effect can be undone.
