Zalgo Text Generator
Turn your words into glitchy, cursed Zalgo text by stacking Unicode combining marks above, through and below letters and numbers. Start with a light effect, increase the intensity for a horror look, or enable just one direction. Your preview stays the same when you copy it.
Intensity adds 0–12 marks per enabled upper/lower group and up to 2 through each letter or number. Text is processed on your device.

How to use it
- Enter a phrase and choose Light, Medium or Heavy, or adjust the intensity slider.
- Toggle Above, Through and Below to choose mark placement. Regenerate changes the pattern without changing your words.
- Copy the preview and test it in your chosen app. Reduce intensity if marks are clipped or the field rejects the result.
Limitations and compatibility
- Every combining mark adds a code point, so a short phrase can become a long string. Output counts are not a promise about an app’s character limit.
- Original accents, emoji and line breaks are preserved. Rendering depends on the destination font; more marks may overlap neighboring lines or be removed.
- Use plain text for important information and accessible labels. Links and mentions are protected by default. Copy original text returns your input; it does not remove corruption from an already glitched input.
Questions
Is Zalgo text a font or a glitch?
It is ordinary Unicode text with extra combining characters, not a software fault or installed font. Those characters draw accents and strokes around a base letter, producing the familiar corrupted effect.
Can I paste it into Discord or Instagram?
Try a short, light sample in the field you intend to use. Apps and individual fields can handle combining marks differently. Preview the saved result; a successful copy does not guarantee the destination will display every mark.
Can you remove Zalgo without losing accents?
Not reliably from arbitrary pasted text: decorative marks can be identical to meaningful accents. This tool preserves your original input and lets you copy it separately instead of guessing which marks to delete.
